Overview
After a restart, an update or a crash, your browser brings tabs back with only a handful of Back pages: Chrome keeps just 6 per tab. BackTrail is a Microsoft Edge extension that keeps the full Back history of every tab in the side panel and matches it to the tab that comes back, so hours of reading don't disappear.
Click any page in the trail to go back to it. Review shows the tabs with more history than the browser keeps, Duplicates finds tabs open on the same address, Sites groups your tabs for a quick pass before quitting, and Closed keeps the tabs you closed, with their history, so you can reopen them with their trail. Right after install, "Recover earlier history" rebuilds the past of tabs you already had open from your browser's own history files, read on your computer. No account and no analytics: BackTrail stores only addresses, titles and times, never page content, and your history never leaves your browser.
Free: live Back history for every tab, Review, Duplicates, Sites, Closed tabs for 7 days, the full recovery scan and recovery of 3 tabs. BackTrail Pro, on sale now: $15 one-time, no subscription. Pro recovers the earlier history of all your tabs (again after any restart or crash), lets you close tabs in bulk in Sites and Duplicates as often as you like, and keeps closed tabs for 90 days. One key works on up to 3 browsers, with a 14-day refund on request.
